3 min readDec 20, 2018

The league remains closely contested outside of the team at the very top and the team at the very bottom.

Star Performer: Anthony Davis

No surprises here as the best player in fantasy basketball continues to be utterly dominant. Basketball Monster have his value pegged at 1.4 over the weeks 7 & 8, 0.29 ahead of his nearest rival, Paul George.

1st: Still Feathery (No Change)

Still Feathery continue to maintain a stranglehold atop the rankings and it appears it will take quite some doing to knock them off their perch. Two of his trades have really paid off with both Bradley Beal and Myles Turner finishing in the top 20 over the past fortnight.

Key Player: Myles Turner (13th, Pick 40)

Best Categories: FG%, Rebounds, Blocks

2nd: Better Call Gasol (Up 2)

Better Call Gasol bounced back from a tough week 5 & 6 to maintain their playoff spot. Karl-Anthony Towns has continued to be perform well and Larry Nance Jr has emerged as the best player on the Cavaliers.

Key Player: Larry Nance Jr (10th, Pick 68)

Best Categories: 3PTM, Assists, Steals

3rd: 808’s & Fastbreaks (No Change)

After a tough start to the season, 808’s have hit their stride and moved into a playoff spot. Despite Beal doing well, De’Aaron Fox has played even better, putting up 10 value as he leads an unexpectedly good Kings team.

Key Player: DeAaron Fox (8th, Undrafted)

Best Categories: Rebounds, Steals, Blocks

4th: Russlin’ Up W’s (Up 2)

Another slow starter who has started to pick up some pace, Russlin’ were unfortunate to lose to 808’s in week 7 before settling for a draw in week 8, in which they finished as dead average on our power rankings measure. Kawhi Leonard is proving to everyone that last year was nothing to worry about and Gallinari has shaken off concerns about his health to provide incredible value as a free agency pickup.

Key Player: Kawhi Leonard (5th, 2nd Keeper)

Best Categories: FG%, Steals, Turnovers

5th: Views From The 6 (Up 2)

Views looked much improved across weeks 7 & 8, recording back to back wins, much thanks to Jrue Holiday who has continued to be great alongside his Pelicans teammate Anthony Davis. Brook Lopez has also kicked in some good performances for the Bucks, knocking down a nice number of 3's.

Key Player: Jrue Holiday (7th, Pick 34)

Best Categories: FT%, Blocks, Steals

6th: Take That For Data (Down 4)

A huge fall for Take That For Data after a brief resurgence. They’ve had a moderately tough time with injuries but will still have hoped to do better, especially with Jokic returning top 4 value during this pair of weeks.

Key Player: Nikola Jokic (4th, 1st Keeper)

Best Categories: FT%, Steals, Turnovers

7th: Post Up Dreams (Down 2)

A further drop from Post Up Dreams echo’s their positioning in the league standings. They have elite talent on their team, especially now with the addition of Paul George, but have yet to get the performances they need from the back end of their roster. They’ll however be delighted with the way that Buddy Hield is playing.

Key Player: Buddy Hield (18th, Pick 92, then FA)

Best Categories: Points, Rebounds, Assists

8th: Metta World War 3 (No Change)

Another difficult fortnight for Metta World War 3 with injuries continuing to hinder any attempts to improve. The return of Stephen Curry helped a bit, as has Ibaka’s reSergence, but Marc Gasol took his foot off the gas, which has really hurt them. Despite their struggles, they are right in the middle of the playoff fight.

Key Player: Serge Ibaka (9th, Pick 88)

Best Categories: FT%, 3PTM, Turnovers
